Welcome to Land Montessori Kindergarden and School.
Land Montessori School was started in autumn 2009 with 22 students and 5 employees. We currently have 22 students and 13 employees. Land Montessori Kindergarden started in autumn 2011 with 3 children and 2 employees. Today we have 13 children and 5 employees. We are experiencing a growing interest in our comprehensive offer for children in kindergarten and school.
What we can offer:
· A unique pedagogy that emphasizes the use of concretization material, the use of all senses in learning, age mixing, freedom under responsibility and the focus on a child.
· The school is a free alternative for all children, regardless of municipality of residence. Free school transport is offered within the municipal boundaries.

· The pupils / children take part in the cooking themselves.
· We also place great emphasis on using the beautiful nature around us and have great days out every week.

What do you get from us?
Collaborative kindergarden and school - The staff collaborates across the kindergarden and school and we have different activities together throughout the year. This is to create a good community and make the transition to school as good as possible!
Food - We make and have common food both in kindergarten and at school. We have hot food two days a week.
Learning outside - All children are out one day a week. Outdoor days and outdoor school is more than playing outside in the fresh air. There is work within the subject areas (Math, Norwegian, English, Arts and Crafts, Biology, Geography, Social studies and Physical education), but there are also collaborative exercises, working with projects and social training!
Mixed age groups - The children learn from each other, and we take that very seriously. Age mixing is an important part of the pedagogy and we take advantage of the benefits of being in a mixed-age group. Children learn at different paces and in different ways!
Work with pedagogical sensory material - We work a lot with different concentration material. The material is designed for the children to use the senses in learning and learn through their own experiences. The main reason is that children should understand what they are learning, not just a rule or formula.
High teacher density - In our school we have good teacher density, and there is always at least one teacher per 13 children.
Biological learning environment - The classrooms at the school are designed as a biological learning environment (Bio-office). They have daylight and plants that are especially good for alertness, concentration and for those who suffer from headaches / migraines.
The premises are newly renovated and appear bright and inviting. They must be adapted to the children in the design, height and the size of the furniture. The children must manage all everyday activities themselves and also help to take care of the environment by watering flowers, removing the dust, setting the table and cleaning.
Kitchen garden and animals - The kindergarden and school collaborate on a kitchen garden. We use what we grow for cooking and art projects. We have an aquarium in the nursery.

In addition, there is a food allowance of 270 kroner a month. Then they get all the food, fruit and drink they need during the day. This also includes two hot meals a week.
The school
Land Montessori School is free of charge. The exception is the school meals we make every day, this costs 300 kroner a month. We have hot lunch two days a week and bread the other days. In addition, they get drinks and fruit every day.
School transport
All pupils have free school transport within the municipal boundaries. This means that all students in Søndre Land Municipality get free school transport. Pupils from other municipalities get covered school transport to Søndre Land's Municipal boundary.

Is Montessori Kindergarden Something for Your Child?
We are a small and safe kindergarden located in scenic surroundings near the Landåsvannet in Landåsbygda. We work according to Maria Montessori's pedagogical principles. Montessori was committed to developing and educating the full potential of the child: physically, intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and socially. Montessori pedagogy contributes to the child him or herself actively seeking and receiving knowledge. Freedom and order, the adapted learning environment and mutual respect and responsibility for the environment are concepts that run like a root through the philosophy of Montessori pedagogy.
The preschool child's absorbing mind, the sensitive periods, the need for freedom and independence and the need for a feeling of accomplishment, are foundations in the pedagogical philosophy we emphasize in Land Montessori Kindergarden.
The most important core value is therefore: Follow the child!
Practical information:
- The kindergarten is open 06:45 - 16:30, with the option to change the opening hours 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon if needed.
-Admission takes place through coordinated admission in Søndre Land Municipality. The application deadline is the 1st of March each year.
-The kindergarten is also open to children from other municipalities and the application takes place [1] via Søndre Land Municipality.
-The prices follow the municipal rates for Søndre Land Municipality
- It is possible to apply to the municipality for a reduced parental payment in the kindergarden for families with low income, according to regulations on parental payments in kindergardens. See the application form for kindergardens.
- In addition, we offer food and fruit to children every day in the kindergarden, this includes breakfast, lunch and fruit. We also have a hot meal every week in addition to snacks and treats, preferably for a campfire during trips.
- The kindergarden has a capacity of 18 children (places) aged 0-6 years.
-SFO is organized as part of the kindergarden offer and is open 06:45 - 08:15 and 14:30 - 16:30 every day. Applications are made via the school.
-The kindergarden is closed for 4 weeks during the summer in July.
